As they walked through the lab, Karkat's moirail, Sollux, started walking alongside him and John. "Heard you two were haviing troulbe2 wiith the 2piiderbiitch?"
"WHO DOESN'T?" Karkat asked with a smirk as Sollux and John waved light- heartedly at each other.
"Mmm, II 2uppo2e you're riight, Karkle2."
"OH GOD, PLEASE DON'T CALL ME THAT!"
"2orry man. Tz ha2 been rubbiing off on me." Sollux chuckled.
"JUST DON'T LICK MY FACE AND I MIGHT NOT POUND YOUR FACE IN."
"IIt'2 a deal, Kk!" He said before walking over to Feferi. Karkat scowled at the empress to be before stepping onto the Transportalizer pad with John.

When they got to Karkat's room, they just huddled up and watched more of his romcoms, laughing together, snacking together, and eventually falling asleep together. Karkat woke up first, sitting up straight. He had a pain in his neck from leaning over all night, and when he attempted to stretch, John's head fell from his shoulder into his lap. Karkat started, blushing furiously. John shifted, cheek rubbing against his pants. Karkat bit his lip, thoroughly embarassed. He gently wiggled away from under John, sighing when he could stand. He leaned against the wall before easing back down next to John, watching his matesprit sleep. After several minutes of seeing John twitch and mumble in his sleep, Karkat leaned down and gently pressed his lips to John's. The humans eyes fluttered open, looking at Karkat adoringly. Karkat pulled away, smiling back. John sat up, rubbing his nappy hair down. "how long have you been up?" he murmured.
Karkat shrugged. "FEW MINUTES, NO BIG DEAL."
John smiled his derpy smile and said, "cool. Now, come with me! I have a surprise for you~" Again, John was a total derp. But he was Karkat's derp. Karkat let John tug him through the winding corridors until they were outside. "Now, I know you were upset since you were the only one that didn't get to fly-"
"JOHN WHAT THE FUCK ARE YOU GONNA-" But John just wrapped his arms around Karkat's waist, then sent them flying into the air with his windy powers. Then he let go of Karkat, letting them hover freely. Karkat looked down, face drained of color, mouth agape. John just floated over to him, hugging him close and laughing.
Karkat clung to him. "JOHN I'M SO FUCKING SCARED OF HEIGHTS, YOU NOOKSCUCKER!"
"Well, then why did you feel bad about not being able to fly?"
"BECAUSE I'M ALWAYS FUCKING LEFT OUT! I'M NOT EVEN ON THE HEMOSPECTRUM, I NEVER GOT TO FLY, I DIDN'T HAVE A MATESPRIT TILL WE ENDED THE GAME, AND I HAD TO BE THE ONE
TO DO ALL THAT DUMB FUCK ECTOBIOLOGY WITH THE OTHER TROLLS!"
John frowned, biting his lip. "oh. Sorry..." They started sinking to the ground, Karkat calming down as they did so. As they touched the ground, Karkat untangled himself
from John, so they instead sat side by side and looked out at the starry sky.
After many minutes of silence, John put his head against Karkat's shoulder and murmured, "I love you Karkat, you stubborn fuckass." before laughing lightly.
Karkat sighed. "AND I PITY YOU JOHN, YOU DERPY HUMAN." before chuckling back. John stiffened and moved away.
"what?" John murmured, eyes clouded.
Karkat pursed his lips. "WELL, YOU CAN BE QUITE PATHETIC, EVEN FOR A HUMAN-" John leapt up, looking a bit like a kicked puppy and a bit infuriated.
"I am not pathetic! Do you know half the shit I had to go through in that goddamned game? I watched all my friends die at least once in doomed time- lines, had my dad killed right in front of me, watched poor Rose go Grimdark, and died a load of times! You think I'm pathetic?" He yelled the last sentence, making Karkat snarl.
"FINE, YOU THINK YOU'RE NOT WORTHY OF MY PITY? GET THE FUCK OUT THEN, ASSWIPE!" John sneered and walked back inside, straight to the Transportalizer. Karkat just let him go, fuming. He ran a hand through his hair, sighing.
"Well, you fucked up pretty 8ad, 8ro!" A voice said from above him. Karkat looked up to see Vriska, floating above him, wings fluttering.
He scowled. "CAN IT, FAIRY."
"Oh, come on! I can help, you know! I've watched plenty of those horri8le Earth movies!"
"ALRIGHT, GO FOR IT."
"Well, for humans, pity isn't part of their... romantic ent8nglements. In fact, as you saw, pity can offend humans. hahahaha!" Vriska laughed, drifting lower.
"WELL, DAMMIT."
"Mmm. Like I said, you fucked up 8ad. 8etter apologize~" she sang, flying off. Karkat smacked a hand against his forehead, feeling like a total ass.
How could Karkat SAY that? John thought as he walked down the street to get to his house. He rubbed at his face, trying not to cry. He shifted his glasses back, then shoved his hands in his pockets. The sun was just coming up, casting everything in an orangey pink glow that was just too cheerful. Without having to keep up with Karkat's longer strides, the walk home took him a good 12 minutes. And when he approached his block, he saw someone sitting on his doorstep. Great. But the closer he got, the more he recognized the person, till he saw Jade, typing swiftly on her cell phone. She looked up as John came up the drive, grinning and running up to him. She gave him a big hug and a kiss on the cheek, making him laugh.
"The derpiness is genetic!" he cried jokingly. She punched his arm lightly.
"I heard you and Karkat had a fight" she murmured. John sighed.
"I don't really want to talk about it" he unlocked the door and let both of them in.
"But I think I could help!" She groaned, before replying to a message. "Kanaya's worried too"
"Great. Fucking wonderful."
"Well she got it from Vriska!"
"Fantastic."
"Just let me explain for him!"
"No! I don't need you to explain! He called me pathetic!"
"Because... trolls don't generally feel love! Pity is their warmest emotion!! They only have pity and..." she cocked her head to one side as she read the phone. "Lust I think. I don't understand a lot of Alternian."
John snorted. "Well, you think he wouldn't have jumped to the conclusion that I knew that!"
Jade just rolled her eyes and said, "Well I think Karkat is at Rose's, so-"
"No. I am not going over their. If he wants to apologize, he can come over here."
Jade just flopped onto the couch and said, "Fine, don't take my or Kan's advice. I'm just here to try, and I did. So let's watch one of your silly movies while you contemplate how stupid your being."
John snickered and put one of his favorites in to play. He sat next to his sister, smiling. She turned so her legs dangled over the arm, and her back was against John's
shoulder. He wrapped an arm around her shoulders, pulling Jade close. They eventually fell asleep, waking up when Jade heard someone knock. She mumbled sleepily,"Come on in..." While she sat up, rubbing her eyes. John shifted, head resting against her back. She smiled and looked to the door. Karkat entered, looking grouchy. John mumbled as he woke, then saw Karkat. He stood, so they were only a few feet away from each other. They held their ground, glowering at each other.
